Description
The TagMatiks pre-printed and pre-encoded RFID labels are designed for users who are looking to jump start their RFID endeavors. Compatible with TagMatiks software, the RFID labels are designed to help you get your RFID project off the ground!
TagMatiks 0299P is a foldable RFID tag that enables you to place it on multiple surfaces and is well suitedfor tracking chemicals and liquids. The butterfly tag consists of a 3" x 1" PET label with 3 internal perforations. Once folded, the tab is 1" x 0.69" in size with unique pre-printed pre-encoded print as well as QR code while the label ends are clear. The TagMatiks pre-printed and pre- encoded RFID labels are designed for users who are looking to jump start their RFID endeavors with TagMatiks AT Lite. This is a great option in industrial environments where you want protection against chemicals and abrasion with a coating of 1 mil clear PET layer on top. We can also use these on plastic and cardboard surfaces and it will work as a standard RFID label. We have seen great success in labs for doing use cases like chemical tracking with read ranges any where from 2 - 10ft.
We recommend using the RFID Flag Tag on the following items:
- Chemicals
- Liquids
- Objects with round surfaces
- Some metal objects
- Other items that have metallic or liquid properties
It's pretty simple to attach to items, simply remove the sticker cover from the tag. Fold in half right in the middle between the two squared scan codes (white area) Attach both sides together close in the white region, do not stick the 2 clear side flaps together. & finally attach the clear flaps to clean flat surface, on the flaps push down for pressure. In addition to the various options available, these RFID labels can be customized and are available with various options and specs to meet your project needs.

FAQs:
What is the TagMatiks Flag RFID Tag (Butterfly Style)?
The TagMatiks Butterfly Style Flag RFID Tag is a UHF RFID label designed to fold around the surface of an object, with the RFID inlay extending outward in a symmetrical “butterfly” or “wing” configuration. This setup reduces interference from metal or liquid and improves read reliability.
How does the butterfly style differ from standard flag tags?
Unlike standard flag tags that extend from just one side, butterfly style tags wrap around an object surface, positioning the RFID inlay extending outward in a symmetrical configuration. This symmetrical flag improves read range and stability on hard-to-tag surfaces like metal, tubing, or cables.
What surfaces are ideal for applying these tags?
Butterfly style tags are especially useful on metal surfaces, cylindrical items (like cables, pipes), curved plastics, and IT equipment, where traditional flat tags may not function well.
What are typical applications of the TagMatiks Butterfly Style Flag Tag?
These tags are commonly used for IT asset tracking, tool management, cable tagging, laboratory sample tracking, and field service equipment, especially when tamper resistance or flexibility is important.
Are these tags compatible with all RFID systems?
Yes. They are EPC Gen2v2 / ISO 18000-6C compliant, making them compatible with most UHF RFID readers and enterprise systems.
Are these tags printable or customizable?
This tag or label listed on rfid4ustore.com is pre-printed and pre-encoded as you see in the sample images. If you have a requirement for customization on printing or encoding or just need blank labels, please contact us and we would be glad to help you order those.
How are these tags applied?
Remove the sticker, fold the tag at the perforation line between the scan codes, press the two sides together (avoiding sticking the clear flaps), and then attach the clear flaps to a clean, flat surface with pressure. Fold guides or perforations are often provided to make alignment easy and consistent.
Are these tags tamper-evident or reusable?
These tags are typically single-use and non-reusable. While they may not be tamper-evident by default, attempts to remove or reposition them often result in visible damage to the label or adhesive.
Where is the best location to attach the TagMatiks Flag RFID Tag (Butterfly Style)?
Answer:
The TagMatiks Flag RFID Tag (Butterfly Style) is designed for attachment to metal assets and surfaces where space or visibility is limited. The unique flag-style design allows the tag to stick out perpendicularly from the metal surface, improving line-of-sight to the RFID reader and reducing interference caused by metal. It is ideal for mounting on edges, pipes, cables, tools, or metal equipment where a traditional flat tag cannot be easily read. Ensure the surface is clean, flat, and free from dirt or oil before attachment for optimal performance.
What is the read range of the TagMatiks Flag RFID Tag (Butterfly Style)?
Answer:
The TagMatiks Flag RFID Tag typically offers a read range of up to 15-20 feet (approximately 4.5 to 6 meters) when used with a high-performance fixed UHF RFID reader. The flag design enhances readability on metal surfaces by reducing signal blockage, but actual read range may vary based on reader power, antenna setup, tag orientation, and environmental factors. Handheld readers may have a shorter range, typically 6 to 12 feet, depending on the device and scanning conditions.
