Linear Polarization

When choosing the right RFID antenna for your application, you may want to take into consideration the polarization of your antenna. This can have an effect on the performance of your RFID read zone. Linear polarized antennas emit electromagnetic waves on a singular plane that can be horizontal or vertical. For linear polarized RFID antennas to perform best, the RFID tag must be on a fixed, unmoving surface which is aligned to the antenna. Because of the constrained plain of emittance, linear polarized antennas can have a longer read-range than circular polarized antennas, making them ideal for applications where the object being read is some distance away from the antenna.
